China Study Tour with UoN students


In July, supported by the New Colombo Plan Mobility Program, A/ Prof Hao Tan led a group of 14 University of Newcastle undergraduate students undertook a two-week “industry-focused” study tour in China. They visited a number of significant enterprises in China’s energy and resource sectors in Beijing, Shanghai, Rizhao and Wuhan, including those in steel making, iron ore and coal importing port, renewable energy equipment manufacturing, and e-waste recycling (circular economy) etc. Many of those companies are heavily involved in the value chain across Australia and China. In addition, they had visits to the Australian embassy, Auscham, UON partner university, and undertook cultural immersion activities.The tour was helped by Patricia Johnson and UON PhD student Jintao Zhang.
