Industry-focused study tour in China

Led by A/Professor Hao Tan, 25 business and law students from University of Newcastle successfully undertook an intensive study tour as part of their course International Study Experience in July 2019 in China. During the two-week study tour, they were engaged with a total of twelve businesses/organisations, including many significant companies in the Chinese energy and resource industries, such as the second largest Chinese wind turbine manufacturer (Envision Energy), the largest iron ore importing port in China (Rizhao Port), and the largest electric vehicle company in the world (BYD). They also hold discussions with officials and industry experts at Australian Embassy in Beijing and the Australian China Chamber of Commerce. Supported by the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan and a special scholarship program provided by University of Newcastle, the study tour provided a rare opportunity to both domestic and international students to travel together and developed understanding and friendships.
