SBS TV Interview on lifting of the Chinese ban on Australian coal

On 6 Jan 2023 Dr Hao Tan was invited for an interview in SBS News in Mandarin discussing the news that China reportedly lifted the unofficial ban on Australian coal imports. In the interview Dr Hao Tan suggests in the past two years Australia has secured new buyers for its coal exports and China has found new supplies. Therefore both Australia and China have reached new balances in their respective coal markets. For this reason, the easing of the restrictions would not make a huge difference to the markets at least in the short term. However, as the first concrete sign of the normalisation of the trade relationship between the two countries, this move is still pretty significant. The interview starts at 05:30 of the program.
